Intro

Welcome to my misadventures in Japan's hidden gem, Kamogawa. Kamogawa is a small seaside city in the southern peninsula of the Chiba prefecture, just south of Tokyo. The name Kamogawa uses the characters for duck (鴨) and river (川). So you could say I live in duck river? (haha) Boasting a population of approximately 35,000, there is a stark contrast from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, which houses over 13 million people. The people here are friendly and relaxed, giving off a Hawaiian-esque vibe. Kamogawa is certainly a country-side town where shops close at 8, but is home to huge attractions like Sea World and Maruki point (famous surf spot). In case you were wondering how I ended up in Japan in the first place, I was selected to be an assistant language teacher on the JET programme and will be teaching English in various elementary and junior high schools. I have yet to have my internet debacle resolved, but thankfully my phone can tether (my poor data). Albeit a titch late, I have decided to write about my life in Kamogawa. I've encountered many strange occurrences in the short 2 weeks I have lived here and can't remember them all (I just have a bad memory D:), but one thing is for sure... I hate mosukito-san...
